Safety:
The company has a very aggressive and effective safety
program. During the bid preparation process, and again prior
to commencement of construction, a safety review of the
planned operation is made, and a work plan that considers
all known hazards is developed. The work is performed in
accordance with that plan, and is modified as necessary and
appropriate during the construction phase as the dynamic
conditions of construction require.
Records:
Most blasting activities are restricted by limitations on
blast hole diameter, pounds of powder per delay, and peak
particle velocity. All blasting performed by Edick & Watt is
seismically monitored, with adjustments made to blasting
patterns, delays, and other variables, to keep blasting
within the project-specific limitations prescribed. In
addition to the seismic report generated following each
blast, the company also keeps record of the amount and type
of explosives used on each project.
